Now that the dreary remnants of Punxsutawney Phil spotting his shadow are officially a thing of the past, the countdown to wedding season is on. So much so that brides-to-be are flocking to Pinterest to customize secret boards full of flower arrangement ideas, color scheme options, and bridesmaid dresses suggestions. Oh, and, if it wasn’t obvious, bridal beauty inspiration. But, according to Pinterest, in its 2017 Wedding Report, the social media platform found that while women are certainly searching pins for delicate updos, natural-looking makeup, and Essie Ballet Slippers manicures, at-home skin-care treatments are on the up and up. More specifically, searches for collagen lip masks have risen — by a whopping 388 percent in just a year — according to Pinterest.
While we might have guessed that face masks were taking home the top prize in terms of searches, based on a previous Google report, we’re not completely blown away by the findings. Along with a fresh face and a gorgeous hairstyle, those about to say “I do” want to look their absolute best on their wedding day — from head to toe — and a quick lip treatment can certainly help with that.
Collagen lip masks, which we’ve seen migrate from South Korea to the States over the last couple of years, are a serious step-up from O.G. lip balm: They’re deep-conditioning treatments that hydrate, (slightly) plump, and supple-up pouts after just a few minutes of wear. And, unsurprisingly, lip masks make great primers for lipstick, as they seal in moisture and help lock-in color post-application. See, lip masks make sense — no wonder brides-to-be are obsessed with them.
